This and That...

Any puzzlers out there!?! This is a puzzle that DD1 gave to DD2 to keep her busy while she is home on sick leave for the week... It is a VERY hard puzzle, as the photo on the box is not the whole thing, maybe a 1/4 of whole, has lots of blue, and all the puzzle pieces are the same shape! We started it here last night with Mr.Rose (her BF). They will be coming to work on it again tonight, and then DD2 will come during the day tomorrow... I love puzzles!!!
My B-I-L was here when I came home from the day retreat on Sunday. DH made us supper and gave him a hair shaving. DH is getting good at it! 8-)

Ladies, pop on over the Marlene's blog for her tutorial/pattern for a darling little wall-quilt, and while you are there, have a look around. Marlene is a very talented quilter... 8-)

Have a visit on Zlaty's blog also, to see the wonderful little design wall she and her hubby put together. Complete with how it was made... 8-)

I know you are seeing a lot of my group's sew and tells, and not much produced by me... I've been having a bit of a mojo problem this summer, or just finding other things to do. I do have my hexagons that I bring to my quilt outings, and now will be bringing my round standing quilt frame to work on hand-quilting for a while, so there really hasn't been much from me to blog about and show, thus I haven't been posting everyday either... I also haven't been keeping up with all you wonderful ladies and your blogs... "my bad!" I think today I am all caught up with my reading and comments to you now, and will hopefully keep up because I do so enjoy keeping in touch with you all... 8-)

Happy stitchings!

Mini Retreat Photos...

I think you will be some disappointed as I don't have much for Sew & Tell for a day spent with 23 other quilters...?... but here it is!

Our famous Dl has finished another Bargello quilt top today...
Another lovely D! 8-)
And our Dw is plugging along with her's, but making good strides...
Way to go D!!! 8-)
This is Vh's Teddy in progress... Darling... 8-)
You go girl!!! Vf finished a quilt top today too!!! 8-)
Pg was working on Christmas blocks for a large quilt.
Adorable Santa and Rudolf!!! 8-)
Santa was missing a hand at this point, but it was on in no time...
One of our gals, Nd, makes these lovely bags for an organization called "Grandmas for Africal". They have made many, many bags, to raise funds... 8-)
This is Du's Christmas wall-quilt that she has been busy with...
Getting there D! 8-)
One of the great parts to the day was having 2 fellow bloggers join us today. This was a first "in person" meeting for me. In photo, Brenda from Scraps and Strings, myself, and Joyce from J's Quilting Blog... Brenda brought her friend Heather along for the day too. Ladies, I really enjoyed our time sitting together, getting to know you, and Joyce, thanks for making the effort driving in to join us. I know you have a long drive... 8-)
Hope you had a safe trip home...

I had invited a couple of other local bloggers that I have been getting to know online also. D from Quilt Pixie, and Marlene from Sipiweske Quilt Designs, but they were unable to make it...this time! And our K from Quilter Going Bananas, who belongs to one of my quilt groups, ended up in the USA with her mother and daught
er for an annual getaway weekend... Hopefully we shall all be able to meet up sometime soon! 8-)

And now, you see in the photo, I finally got to hand-quilting on my very first quilt I made and sandwiched about 6 years ago. Brought my little quilting stand along, and dove in... I think this will replace my hexagons for a while as the frame is not that heavy or awkward to carry... As friend Pg says, "Just get'er done!" 8-)

Hope you all had a great weekend!
I know I did! 8-)

Happy stitchings!

A day at the Beach/Park...

We went to the BHPark/beach for a few hours this afternoon. About an hour shorter than what we had planned. Though both the fur-girls were behaving fairly well, they got excited every time someone walked by with their dog, Dora manage to break the snap on her collar and give chase at another dog. I haven't run that fast in years to go and grab her away from the lady with her dog in her arms. Dora's collar was beyond repair, thus it was time to go home!!! It was nice while it lasted... I think maybe next weekend we will go to the biggest beach that Manitoba has... without the fur-girls, and really relax...

Tomorrow is or city group's day retreat, so I best get my stuff packed and ready to go... I am sure I will have some lovely Sew & Tell items to share later in the day...

Happy stitchings!

A few Sew & Tells...

It was a Wonky Bits day today!
This is Pg's latest finish. It is an Art to Heart pattern...
"Fall Festival" by Nancy Halvorsen
Such rich colors Pg!!! Love it! 8-)
This is Jb's work in progress. This quilt is being made for her son... Once she attaches the sides, top, and bottom pictured here, she has another boarder to add...
Looking great J!!! 8-)
Jb was busy hand-sewing the binding down on this adorable little Christmas table topper...after we figured out how best to lay the binding nicely with the least amount of bulk at those corners. Her pattern called for the binding to be attached in this manner... J says she won't be putting it on like this again...
Looking good J!! 8-)
Movies we rented on Thursday, for a 7 day stretch...Step-Bros was funny-stupid, and with way toooooo much swearing... Last-Ch-Harv was pretty good...
DS and I watched Inkheart on Friday together, and I watched it ag
ain with DH last night (he was gone camping over the weekend) ... I've heard it is a trilogy, so I am looking forward to that, and I think I will pick up the books at some point too... 8-)

I went to see DD2 right after WBs today. Brought her some jars of baby fruit and apple sauce to try and get down. We thought she had toncilitus (on antibiotics), but Doc called this morning to say blood work shows it is mono... OH great!!!
DD2 hasn't eat
en for 4 days now, and is only sucking on popsicles, ice-cubes, slurpies, and freezes... She has a busy weekend coming. A bridesmaid commitment...
I hope she fi
gures out when to avoid what she can, and rest, and doesn't faint at the altar!!! Hope those antibiotics kick in fast...
Her boss
told her that they don't want to see her at work until after the long weekend, which would be September 8th...

I raided DD2's DVD trunk and brought home a bag full to watch over then next few weeks... She has tons of them!!!! Wow!

Happy stitchings!

Sunday's show of quilts and WIP's

Since this gathering was at Cd's house, we saw a lot of her wonderful creations...

This is the quilt Cd made for her husband... She won a 2nd place ribbon at a country fair here... Made of flannels...
Cd's Rail Fence made of flannels...
Isn't Cd's red, white, and black awesome? We all thought it was great! Simple in it's construction, but very effective in it's showing... 8-)
Cd's Log Cabins... Love blues... 8-)
Cd's Persian Star. Made in a class where we first met about 5-6 years ago... Love it! 8-)
You can see mine here...
These next two quilts are made from flannel fabrics Cd had left over from making a king size quilt for her son...
Her Flying Geese look so perfect!!! I've had trouble with those...?
This is what Gk brought to show us. She took a class... was none too happy with the class, but she is almost done her quilt... 8-)
Here we have Gk's hexagons she brought to work on...which she didn't. None of us did one stitch! We just talked and enjoyed the company... 8-)
And this is Cs' hexagons that she too brought to work on, but didn't... Her's is being done by hand when we gather, and machine at home if the mood hits her... 8-)
No photo, but I too brought my hexagons to work on... 8-)

What a beautiful sunny blue sky I see out my window today!!! Much appreciated after yesterdays drizzly day!!! Time to head out to walk the fur-girls, and go to my appointment for my annual checkup with my doc! Oh joy...

Have a wonderful stitchy kind of day! 8-)

A long day....

I had planned to post the sew and tell photos from yesterday's outing this morning, but slept in and had no time. We had my Aunt's memorial to attend today, and then on to Uncle's for most of the day, and we just got home. So, the sew and tell will have to wait till tomorrow as I am beat... But I shall leave you with a photo of Cd's wonderful fabric she showed us...
Isn't it adorable!?! I love it!!! I especially thought you would get a kick out of seeing this Julie, as I know you are playing with these right now... 8-)
Till tomorrow then!
MyraThat would be Joyce from Pete...not Frank.

Quilt gathering sew and tell...

This is a bag that new member Vh made. Isn't it wonderful!!! Love the ribbon/bead embellishment!!! Looks great! 8-)
This is Bb's stitch play applique piece that she made in a class... Fun stuff! 8-)
Click on the photo for a closer look... Love the effect of the stitching on the background. Bb must have done that before the applique... 8-)Bb's carry all bag that she made recently...
This is Ac's table topper that she was hand-stitching binding on tonight...
Looks great Ac!!! Really! 8-)
A little Easter wall quilt. Center panel picture was painted on with fabric paints...
Very cute Pg!!! 8-)
Another painted panel of Pg's... A Fall wall-quilt! Love the detail! Apparently her friend did the detailing... 8-)
Pg's try at working with "Snippets". Awesome! 8-)
Pg's Santa wall-quilt... 8-)
Pg's Snowmen at the Window... Love it!! 8-)
Pg's wonderful work again... 8-)
Pg's again... 8-)
Guess who's? Yup! Pg's!!! 8-)
Oh! And here is one of... Pg's!!! Beautiful! 8-)
Last one... Pg's of course! lol!!! 8-)
Pg brought a mini trunk show of quilts for us to see, as many of them are made using a pattern designed by local gal, Marie Minaudier. Marie teaches, designs patterns, and sells them in local quilt shops... Many of our group have taken classes with her...
Pg used to quilt with Marie years ago, and has made quite a few quilts using her patterns also. That was the reason behind the mini trunk show tonight...
I loved seeing all your little quilts tonight P!!! 8-)

*** For those of you that view both mine and Quilter Going Bananas blogs, you will note photos of the same show and tells quite often... We belong to the same quilt group, but do have a lot of visitors to our blogs that don't visit both... So, those of you that see them on both blogs get to enjoy them twice!!! 8-) ***

Dp brought me this kit from her visit to Connecting Threads in the States. I first saw it on MaryGrace's blog a while back...
Thanks Dp!!! 8-)
So, Dp brought me the kit, and I gave her our group Sudoku quilt top and the backing to take home to machine-quilt on her frame...
That be it for show and tell for tonight!
Happy stitchings everyone!
Myra

On the display wall and a surprize for me...

Picket Fences is back up on the display wall for me to continue figuring out how to best piece the boarder. I have a little section of it done on the right... I shall ponder this while I finish up some other things, and hopefully get to this next week...
Most times I have days were I don't see or hear from anybody. Yesterday I had 3 unplanned visitors, 2 of which called just before coming over... 8-)

DD2 came by and we had a late lunch together while she did a load of laundry that needed to be done for work ASAP! At her apartment this one load would take 5 hours to dry...? While we were eating my parents came to see all the
photos of their 50th on my comp and to email to a cousin in Holland...
In the evening DD1 just popped by for a little visit and to drop off a birthday gift...?... "A birthday gift!? For who?" I said. Well it turns out it was for me!!! I had forgotten about a promised gift from the kids... Forgetfulness is a big part of my life these days it seems... 8-(

Here was their card from my birthday 7-8 weeks back...
The little PS note at the bottom of the card...
And the gift itself! A windmill for the yard! It stands about 3 feet (94.44 cm)tall... 8-)
Thanks a bunch my darling children! 8-)
Now, where to put it...? hmmmm...?

This next photo is of a windmill my father made for my grandparents about 40 years ago... boy that sounds like a long time ago... It stood about 6 feet (182.88 cm) tall.
It was wonderful... Dad had put many hours/days into that creation... Too bad, without our knowledge, Grandma sold/gave it to a neighbor before she moved 25 years ago... Would have been nice to keep it in the family!!!!!!!!!!!! For sure!!!!!!!!!
We are just a tad bitter about that...
Today I am hoping to get the backing done (yes I know... still not done!) for the Sudoku quilt to pass over to Dp of our city group to quilt it, and then it will come back for me to bind and label it. To be donated to the retreat house by early October...

Tomorrow I "hope" to dive into the Hollyhocks piece... I hope!!! 8-)
Been so sluggish...

Have a great day all, and I may have some sew & tell for you tomorrow from our gathering tonight... 8-)
