A lovely Fall day...

 Yesterday started with DH bringing me a Tim's coffee first thing in the morning... Yum!! 8-)
 We've been having wonderful Fall weather, so took advantage of it by spending the day outside...
 The fur-girls had a wonderful day out...
 Long grasses...
 Sniffing about...
 A fresh cut lane to the road...
While DH cut grass, I marked trees, walked quite a bit with the fur-girls, and did some hand-piecing on my Hexagon quilt...
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is a low-key kind of day... I have been out and about way too much this past week and a half... I'm having an in home day... DH is out with his boat...
As with DD1's wedding, it is taking me a week to get back to feeling "normal" after DD2's recent wedding... I have an appointment to use the quilting machine at my friend's shop next week Friday for Mr & Mrs. Rose's quilt... Looking forward to getting that one done so I can get onto one of my PhD's and some new things... 8-)
Tomorrow I am heading out with some of my quilting gals to a sale at Kickass Country Store, which is a quilt shop about a good hour and a bit out of the city... (last time there was 2 years ago now, as was this photo)
It will be a nice outing... Looking forward to it... 8-)
Thank you all for your recent comments! As per usual, I am not great at replying to them, but will get back in to my regular blog visits to you all by next week... 8-)
Happy stitchings quilters! 8-)
Another Wedding Day & Day After
We had interesting weather for the wedding weekend!!! Cold and rain on Friday, fog Saturday morning on the way to the hairdressers, and sun, cloud and cool-ish for the rest of the day... Warm and sunny on Sunday, which was perfect for our outdoor gift opening...
Introducing, Mr & Mrs.Rose as they are leaving the church, with DD1 and DS in the background...
The surprize vehicle (DD2's boss's car, with their son as driver) waiting to take them to the reception hall. This car was a big surprize to Mr.Rose!!! Nice one DD2, and what great bosses you indeed have!!! 8-)
The reception was lovely! The hall was wonderfully decorated, the food was great, and everyone had a wonderful time dancing the night away!!! The presentation gifts were Kindersurprise Eggs, which holds a special meaning to the happy couple. Mr. Rose hid the engagement ring inside one, and gave it to DD2 on their engagement night... As guest's gifts, they went over really well with all the children at the wedding. It kept them busy all night!! 8-)
Father of the Bride dance... Funky hat there Dad! 8-)
Had to show this! Grandma's knee replacement this past February, was a huge success, as she was dancing quite a bit! Learning to line-dance here with Mr & Mrs.Farmer... Way to go Mom!!! 8-)
The Momma & the Poppa!! 8-)
Ya-ya Mt, I'm using your photo... Good one! thanks!
Our shelters were put to good use again, this time at Mr.Rose's family home for lunch and the gift opening! We all had a great time!!!
Thanks so much B, H, & family!!! 8-)Quilt top presented, and then given back for me to finish... It was a hit with Mr & Mrs.Rose!! 8-)
I am hoping to have it done by the time they are done their honeymoon in 2 weeks time...Well, our family of 5, became a family of 7 this past weekend, all within 28 days... Mr & Mrs.Farmer's August wedding weekend here... It feels good to have all the hubbub of the year behind us now! Hopefully now life will quiet down a bit... 8-)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
Saturday Sampler @ Six... Block 20
This was a scheduled post...
Block 20 - Fifty Four Forty or Flight
I think my photo is distorted some...
You can view the first 19 blocks here... 8-)
I have never understood the name of this block...?... nor have I looked up the story behind it!?!! I guess I shall have to do that... when all the wedding fiasco is done and behind me!!!
That is what I am up to as you read this. The fur-girls are at Doggie Hotel, and the wedding weekend is on!!! I should have wedding photos on here Sunday or Monday... 8-)
This coming week Monday should be the start of my life back to "normal"... but then, it is still 2010, and we know my year has been full of events, planned and unplanned, so maybe I should keep "back to normal" for 2011!?!! 8-)
Hope you are having a great weekend!
Another email I received being shared...
Subject: How to Re-Use Plastic Bottle Tops and Caps
The guy who first thought of the idea must be given an award for originality!!! What a fantastic idea!
How to seal a bag and make it air-tight!
Cut up a disposable water bottle and keep the neck and top, as in photo.
Insert the plastic bag through the neck, and screw the top - to seal.
The bottle is made to be air-tight, such that water will not leak. The secret lies with the top and screw! This is a great idea to share. Good for us, and the environment too.
I'd say this subject is airtight! - Myra 8-)
noreply-comment question & fur-friends
Noreply-Comment Issues... Check out Allison's remedy...
Terri asked if I would share the name of the pattern for DD2 and MrRose's quilt, so thought I'd share what I did with all of you. Truth is, I saw a quilt something like it, on someone's blog (?), and drew out the basic look of it.
I then guessed at the size of the blocks, on graph paper I modified the drawing by adding blocks and boxes, and figured out measurements of the pieces for cutting...
I put the cuts up on the display wall, played and moved things around some... So, it really was something that started with a photo on someone's blog, modified to my liking... I tend to do my own thing a lot, even with a pattern, which at times gets me into trouble... lol!
Not sure if I had any errors in my figures...?... and you'll note that I didn't do a border of squares as I had planned. It would have been toooo much, too busy, and the quilt would be too big with the added border...
My Bro & SIL's Babies...
One male, two females... Kodi, Riley, and Truffles... I probably spelled their names wrong...
 Sorry L!Sitting nicely in the sand along the water where they were camping a couple of weeks ago...Bro and SIL have there hands full with these beauts!!! Especially Kodi! lol! 8-)
My babes...
 Going to bring them to doggy hotel tomorrow... 8-)
DD2 & MrRose's quilt top done/show & tell
Yes! I managed to finish up DD2 and MrRose's queen size "Wilderness" themed quilt top today!! I shall set up an appointment to quilt it soon... Hopefully for next week sometime... 8-)
I went to my Country Rose gathering tonight. I think it had been about 6 weeks since I last attended. It was good seeing you gals again!!! Fun stuff! 8-)
Gk was hand quilting her Sampler tonight...
Looking good Gk!!! 8-)
Gk also had her "I Spy" quilt top there. No one print was used twice... It will be a fun quilt for a child!!
Looking good! 8-)
Gk brought her new toy for us to see too... 8-)
This is Pc's work. She was machine quilting it. No batting, just polar fleece as the backing. Nice and soft, and will be well loved by a little one...
Looking good Pc! 8-)
A photo of the moon I took on Saturday night.
The best of 14 photos...
I am looking forward to my manicure and pedicure tomorrow! We went a couple of days before DD1's wedding too... 8-)
I have the next Row Robin project box that I need to add to... I have the contents up on my display wall now! The 5 rows are lovely, but definitely out of my comfort zone color-wise. It should be a bit of a challenge picking out fabrics for it, but for now I must ponder what pattern to use...
Hope you are all having a great week!
When you think you've seen it all...
From an email I received recently from De...
So as not to bring unwanted visitors to my blog, I've camouflaged some letters in a couple of words, but you'll get the meaning...
**Dad makes prom dress out of  cxndxms**
About the time you thought you had seen it  all,
here's a 'sxfe sxx' dress!
Pretty original, to  say the least....
No virus was found in this message.
My  computer used one of the cxndxms.....
I hope I haven't offended anyone by posting this...
Saturday Sampler @ Six... Block 19 - plus a reveal...
This was a scheduled post...
Block 19 - Pinwheel (variation)
You can view the first 18 blocks here... 8-)
Many of you wonderful ladies think I am sewing this B-of-the-W, each week. So... I remind you (from my first SS-B#1post) that I did the 25 blocks quite a few years back. It is one of my PhDs.
My plan is to have the quilt top done, and posted a week or two after I reveal the final block... I have a retreat to go to early November which I hope to make that happen... 8-)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yesterday I was to have gone to Carellan Sewing Center to rent their quilt machine/frame to quilt DD2 and MrRose's quilt... Truth is, I had to cancel the appointment cause I didn't have the quilt top done... I had big plans right after DD1 and MrFarmer's wedding to get it done, but with Dad's surgery, and a second reception in Wisconsin, it wasn't meant to be...
That is OK though, cause that is what I had to do... 8-)

So, yesterday I completed the center of the quilt top, and here it is... (do you recall that I am a sluggish and last minute quilter?)
They wanted greens and browns with a wilderness theme... It is square, just hanging crooked on my display wall...

DD2 saw it up on my display wall when she was in my sewing room using the computer. I had forgotten that it was up on my display wall.... So, I thought, might as well show it off now as a work in progress. I just have to put the borders on now, and I have the batting and backing ready... . 8-)

Last minute wedding preparations  going on around here too... Can't wait for "normal everyday living" to come my way...

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Happy stitchings!

Last night's Show and Tell

First, I must say thank you for all your comments of the last few weeks. They mean the world to me right now... I try to pop in on all of you and comment, but time is so limiting still. With all that we've been going through, and DD2's wedding coming up soon, I can't wait for "normal" to be part of my life again... 8-)

Now, here is the show and tell from last night's gathering...

First up is a wonderful tote sample for a future class at Carellan Sewing Center. Method used is from a gal that teaches at the shop, Geesje Baron, that has published a book on the subject of Folded Blocks. I believe books will be available at the shop, if not now, soon...
Next up, is a wonderful table topper, made be friend Pg, also for a class sample at the same shop. Pattern by Marie Minaudier, which only sells her patterns locally I believe...
Pg, maybe you could correct me on that account in my comments box?

This machine embroidered quilt was made, also as a shop sample, by Ld... Lots of stitches in this one!!! Very pretty...
This fun baby/child's quilt was made by Al in the "mile-a-minute method"...
Google it and you will find lots of images of such...
Here is Dianne, (she has a blog also), with a table topper she was binding last night.
I hope it is ok to show Dianne in the photo as she shows herself on her blog... Tis a good photo of her, although a tiny bit blurred...

Lastly, my fur-girls... Soaking up the sun yesterday under my sewing table as I spent the day sewing DD2 and MrRose's quilt...
Back to Pfaffy! 8-)

Wisconsin Visit/Farm Reception & PS

PS: Forgot to mention, I had brought my father home from the hospital on the Tuesday before we left. No transfer to another hospital, and no out patient physio...? Went to visit Mom and Dad yesterday, and he is doing very well... 8-)

Yes my friends... you down south have been notified, they are on their way down...
Getting chilly up here! Fall has definitely come...

We had a wonderful visit/celebration down on the Wisconsin farm, and met lots of MrFarmer's family, friends, and neighbors.... A good time was had!

 Some darling applique patterns in this book...
Thinking future baby quilts... 8-)
 Both magazines came in the mail on the same day! Woohoo!!!
Lots of reading material for our drive to the farm... though, I usually do most of the driving, cause I enjoy long distance driving! DH says I should have been, or should be, a long haul driver! Ummmm... I think not! 8-)

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

I should have some home renovation photos of the farm house coming soon!
