Fall Retreat

Once again we had a wonderful Fall-time retreat! It started out with no snow, but we ended up going home in snow and bad road conditions. We also experienced a 4-hour blackout which started at 9:45pm, so.... 29 quilters went to bed early!! A big time first!!! LOL!! This blackout cut into my productivity for sure!! I would have had 2 UFO quilt tops done!! As it was I only got this top done...

This is my Picket Fences quilt top. 56x68
It was about 7-8 years in the making. I had lots of problems over the years completing the pieced borders. Had a pattern for it, but it was the wrong size, so I had to fuss around with it. It got thrown in a corner each time I tried... Last time I tried was 3 years ago. I was pleasantly surprized that I managed to finish the remainder 3 borders with just a little fussing, so I'm contributing that to me being more quilt experienced and knowledgeable!! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! LOL!!

On to finishing up my 2 borders on my Hidden Spools...

Happy stitching!

A finish, a top, and 4 cuties...

Donated Christmas Tree-Skirt done, donated to dinner/auction
fundraiser for church, and sold for $75.00.
This is my purchase from the fundraiser. An Acrylic named "Attitude".
Done by Michelle Campbell of Beausejour, MB, Canada.
It spoke to me, what can I say!?! LOL!! Love it!  ;)

I finally got around to making GS#4 a quilt-top. I best get it
finished up quick, and move on to his Christmas Stocking...
All 4 of my grandsons together!! A once or twice a year occasion.
L to R: GS#3 - DS, GS#1 - TJ, GS#2 - FT, GS#4 - SA.
We celebrated my dad's 80th birthday with whole and extended family yesterday. A "surprize party" as his birthday is really in November, so it was indeed a surprize to him...  ;)
80!!! WOW!! Time flies...

Until next time.... Happy Stitching!!!

Tree Skirt Quilt Top Done...

Now to get it sandwiched, quilted, bound, and delivered. Then I best get thinking about making another Christmas Stocking for our latest addition. We can't have him without one for his first Christmas!!
SA - 6 months old now...

On the display wall...

In my last post I showed a Thanksgiving wall-quilt made for a fundraiser. Well,
since the event date was changed to "after" Thanksgiving, I decided to keep it for myself,
so now I am making a tree-skirt to donate for the fundraiser. This is how it looks so far.
Photo from my iPod, so not the best lighting/flash.
When the top is fully sewn together I will take a better photo.

I hope all my fellow Canadians had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their family and friends.
Personally, mine was great! Ate too much, and lost at cards...  ;)

Happy stitching!

A Thanks Giving Wall-Quilt

I was asked to make a small Thanks-Giving wall-quilt for an auction fundraiser to raise money for our church. So... This is what I put together at our mini retreat this past weekend...
I was pressed to make it cause I knew it was to take place mid-Sept. Now I find out it has been postponed to mid-Oct. Oh well, tis done, but I could have worked on one of my many PhDs over the weekend instead!!!  ;)

Hope life is finding you well!

What's been happening in my patch of the world...

The latest, our daughter came for a 10-day stay with the twins.
On right FT and left DS.
They are indeed identical, but very different in expressions and personality.
13 months old now. Still not walking (premies), but one is getting
around quite fast on his knees, and the other by butt scooting.

Here is our latest photo of our little SA.
He is 7 weeks old now. Getting to be a little porker, as expected of course!! ;)

Older brother TJ is just a going concern all the time now!!
Latest interest, climbing in and out of our dog kennels.
He even figured out how to open and crawl into the rabbit cage at home
when his mom wasn't in the room for 5 seconds. Little monkey!!!

I did my first ever Ikea trip. Had never been in the store before,
but since we have one in Winnipeg now, woohoo!!!
I bought a bunch of see through containers to reorganize my stash/projects/sewing room...
Tis a slow process, but I am getting there...
We had another wonderful small group quilt retreat for 5 days.
Still working on my D9-P for my bed.
You can't rush these things....  ;)
Slow and steady...?... Sort of...

One of our gals even led us in creating snap bags! Cuties!!
I put my cell, small camera, and ipod in mine (just to see how secure it might hold),
turned it upside down, and it held!! Given a shake or two and it fell out,
but that is pretty good holding for that weight!!!

That be it from me for now!

Later Gaiter!!

Back from Lake of the Ozarks...

Stayed at my cousin's timeshare this past Spring Break, as we did last year, though the weather was very different... We had another wonderful stay with them there...
Cousin's wife has taken to quilting the last couple years, so when the guys go golfing out there, we shop, cut, and stitch... My father can't believe we bring our sewing machines on holidays with us... Well...if the guys can bring their golf-clubs with us, why not bring sewing machines!?!

(Below - Left) Is the mag photo (Quick Quilts - March 2010 - Raspberry Cheesecake)
that I really like, and (Right) is the fabrics I bought to give it a go...
(below) The big print I bought a couple years ago. The four fabrics on top I brought back
from the Ozarks. Not the greatest matches, but close enough to work.
I plan to make my brother-in-law a quilt with these. He likes bright happy colors.
I've got a few ideas, but haven't really committed to a pattern as of yet...

I also bought fabrics to make things for our new grandchild that is due to join us any day now.
Oh the anticipation...

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter with your families!!

Happy stitchings!

A New Toy...

I shouldn't even be getting more new toys, because I am still not
fully "bonded" with my new camera yet!! LOL!! Yeesh!
We need this new toy to stay in touch, through email, with my adult chillens when
we are on the move down south... Especially since my middle DD's
baby #2 is due at the beginning of April!!!

Back to getting a baby quilt done for this coming Sunday.
The baptism of a friend's baby...

Back from another retreat...

Had a wonderful time! A group of seven we were this time...
Good food, good company, many laughs...

For some reason I didn't take many photos, as I was busy stitching lots!!

On the left is friend LS' Lattes quilt. Love the fabrics!! On the right is my Hidden Spools.
I had planned to add the borders also, but seemed to be missing the fabric for the inner
border in my box of supplies for the weekend... shucks!!!
I did however make good strides on my D9-P that I had shown in this post... at the bottom.

Showing our wonderful Manitoba snow. It was about 4 feet high on each side of the road!!!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!!

Happy stitching!

Borders are finally on!!! Yippeeeeee.....

On my Row Robin...
Another step closer to a finish!

It's too big for my display wall even! Single bed size.. 67x89

Wondering which you think I should bind it with?
1.)  The border print? Which would be my choice...
2.)  Or the blue I used for the flange?

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!

Flange and Border on!

UFO "Very Green" done, and goes to my PhD pile now...
Feels great getting this quilt top done and off my UFO list.

On to putting the flange and borders onto my Row Robin UFO,
and then get my D9-P blocks put together...

Supper bell calling...

Have a great weekend!

Very Green

A 4-Patch Posie I made last Spring... But since I haven't been blogging that
much this past year, you haven't seen it yet... Tis very green for sure!!!
Measures 40" x 48" right now...

This is the fabric it is cut from.
I just have to add a flange of red, and outer border to finish this quilt top.
Debating which red fabric to use right now.

Still working on my D9-Patches.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Row Robin, D9-Patch, Bits & Pieces...

I've been doing a paper-pieced row to add to my Row Robin project, that
I showed in the previous post. Odd size pieces, thus the paper-piecing.
I added the new row to the others...
Now I am pondering my borders, and debating if "my blue" is close enough
to go with the blues that my friend's added in.
Also showing a new book... I haven't really had a good sit with it yet,
but a quick glance through it looked very promising.

While pondering my Row Robin borders today, I've been working on
my D9-P project that I started a year or two ago.... I'm using up quite
a few old fabric yardages and FQs, mostly small florals.

This afternoon I put some of the "bits & pieces" together that were too
small to cut into charms for the 9-Patches that I start with. A bit more
fussing, but I wanted to use it all up.
Tonight I put more 9-Patches together...
Halfway through getting all that done.
I just need another productive day of sewing, ironing, and cross cutting
my 9-Patches, to be ready to play with all the blocks on my display wall...

Busy days coming up... Mom to physio, Mom's 73rd B-Day visit, BIL's 55th B-Day visit,
Mom to X-rays/6-wk Doc appointment, etc, etc... Mom is doing really well with her
new knee. Much better than her first experience with this 2 years ago..

Well, have a great weekend everyone!
Happy stitching!

iRobot - Poomba

Look what DH came home with yesterday!!
Time to read the instructions and charge the battery!

In the process of getting some of my PhDs done. First up is my Row Robin Project that I did with 9 other gals. You will note the changes I've made in some of my rows, as one did not measure properly, and the other I split in half, which I think looks great, and added another row of flying geese...
Only one of us has fully finished their quilt. I have to make one more row to balance it out, and put the boarders on. So that is my thing to do over the next couple days.
Hope you are all keeping well!

Back to the sewing machine...

Photo issues with Blogger...?

Hello blogging friends!

I have a question for you, that I hope someone can answer. I have a private group blog with my quilting gals, and many of them cannot access the photos in their personal computer files. They click on the photo icon on the "new post" page, and everything comes up except the "choose files" option that would bring them to their own photos... Anyone know what that is about?

Would sure appreciate some feedback about this...

Thanks,
Myra

A quilt top finished...

Poor quality photo, but I set in a better photo of my fabrics in the corner.
DH will have a new quilt soon!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, and that
2013 has seen you all off on a good start so far...
